WBC Sports 5

The WBC Eagles weekend action gave us some great games. The Eagles Soccer team fought hard but were unable to defeat conference opponent William Woods University. The defense looked strong through most of the game but the offense couldn't finish when it needed too. The return of SR Goal Keeper Hector Vera helped keep the game close but the youth and inexperience hurt the overall effort.

Along with the soccer game, our school hosted the Hannibal-LaGrange University women's volleyball team today in a double header. After taking a quick 2-0 lead in the first game, WBC dropped the next three sets to lose the game 3-2. In game two, SR Katie Thomas had a late push in the last two sets keeping the score close, but WBc eventually lost in the fifth due too some questionable official calls. But, if the team had played stronger on defense, those last two calls wouldn't have made a difference in the game. Though the team leaders tried to will the team to win in both games, both coming down to the wire, our defense just looked sloppy and the offense couldn't over come that short fall. My Player of game one for WBC would have to be Jameea Ward SO, and for game two Katie Thomas SR.
