NCAA Conferences

So Texas A&M is once again in talks with the SEC to leave the Big 12 and join the South Eastern Conference. A lot of people think this would be a good thing, for both the SEC and A&M, but I only see one outcome. The Big 12 would fall of course, with Oklahoma and Texas leaving almost certainly if A&M goes. And A&M would have to join the SEC West which is the best division in the nation.

Alabama and LSU lead the division filled with power house or potential power house programs in Auburn, Arkansas, Miss. State, and Ole Miss. A&M would find their conference schedule much harder on a week too week basis. It would also unbalnce the two SEC divisions forcing the East to start looking for a new team to join. Then you have to question if the name South EASTERN Conference would be appropriate anymore, since even Arkansas is barely in that region of the country and A&M is nowhere near it.

In short, the adding of another team to the SEC, the nations best conference, would not help either parties. But another solution could be found. One that saves the Big 12 and can be lucrative for both conferences. If the Big 12 would go out and get Boise State (assuming Boise State would be willing to actually play in a conference where the might have to play great every week), and TCU. Reshuffle there divisions a little to put Oklahoma in the North and spread the power out. Then the SEC and Big 12 form a rivalry match up between conferences like many conferences do in basketball. Arkansas and A&M already have a renewing of their old Southwestern Conference rivalry in place. Put 'Bama against Texas, Florida against Oklahoma, and Georgia against Oklahoma State; all on the same weekend. Then the next weekend you can switch it up or do any number of variations. This would bring in millions for both conferences and would TCu and Boise State the right to say the desrve BCS recognition.

Razorbacks

With the college football season approaching, I think it is time to discuss my favorite team. The University of Arkansas football team is poised to make a run for their first SEC title and possibly a national title. The Razorbacks, under fourth year fourth year head coach Bobby Petrino has all the pieces together for greatness.

Offensively, the Hogs are just as good, if not better than they were a year ago. And that is with star quarterback Ryan Mallett gone to the NFL. But despite what many people may think, Tyler Wilson is a much better college QB than Mallett. Wilson has the ability to scramble away from the ever so fast SEC defensive linemen, an attribute Mallett never had. And the only near perfect game that Mallett had last season, was in the Sugar Bowl. The only problem was that his receivers had their worst game of the year at the same time. But Wilson showed us his talents in a very close shootout with eventual national champs, Auburn. And Wilson will have plenty of help with the return of arguably one of the best wide receivers in the nation, Greg Childs. Along with Joe Adams and Jarius Wright, Childs looks to come back from his knee injury and smoke SEC defenses.

But the breakout star of 2010 was running back Knile Davis. The SEC's leading rusher of 2010, didn't even start the whole season. He was in fact the last RB on the Hogs depth-chart. But in late October, he began adding balance to the Razorback's offense. His SEC leading 1,322 yards gave the Razorbacks that extra threat on the ground to keep defenses on their toes. He looks to have an even better year this season, though I did read today on espn.com, he suffered some sort of leg injury in practice. But should he be healthy for opening day, look for big numbers from him every week.

On defense, Arkansas has improved greatly over last season. Coach Petrino has managed to take one of the worst defenses in the nation his first year, to a powerful machine in his fourth year. Though it is not the best defense in the SEC, it doesn't have to be. With the offensive threat Arkansas possesses, the defense just has to hold it's opponents to a minimum amount of yards and points. With returning starters Jake Bequette(DE, team sack leader), Jerry Franklin(LB, team leading tackler), and Tramain Thomas(S) the Hogs defense looks better than it has in years.

Even though their schedule is an easy one, at least for SEC teams it's easy, the big games that stand out right now are, Sept. 24 at Alabama, Oct 1 Texas A&M at Cowboys Stadium, and Nov. 25 at LSU. The rest of the schedule shouldn't be to much of a problem though never count out an SEC team, especially South Carolina or Mississippi State. But I feel LSU is over rated and Texas A&M is good, but we are better. Going into Alabama will be the toughest of all, but we nearly beat them last year, before Mallett threw the game away in the fourth quarter. But I do feel we could go undefeated or at worst one loss to 'Bama this season.

So watch out for them Hogs, cause this just might be their year.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PIG SOOOOIEEEEEEE RAZORBACKS!

Hollywood

So I just read an article about how Hollywood has gone remake crazy. I think they have, and although I understand some of the reason behind why they are doing it I must ask this one question. What made those movies great in the first place? They were new and well thought out.
Hollywood used to be a great city were artist could put their idea's into films for the world to see. Now it is nothing but a bunch of hypocrites that pretend to hate capitalism and yet do whatever they can to make billions of dollars. I may be young, but I know that what Hollywood needs is not more blockbuster remakes; it needs more story tellers like J.J. Abrams. And if ever given the chance, I would gladly tell my stories in Hollywood. I have many ideas floating in my head on a daily basis. Many could make very good movies. Some I have even began writing down and completeing, hoping to publish or adapt them to film.
Perhaps some of you are writers and story tellers. Well Hollywood could use more ideas, original ideas. Maybe you could be the next George Lucas?
