I have lost all faith in the Miami Marlins management after the latest development. The Marlins looked like they were going to try to actually compete with MLB powerhouses. They brought in a manager that knows how to win the big games, they brought in big name players and even went after the biggest fish in the free agent pond last off-season in Albert Pujols, and they even built another modern sports palace. What happened? They dumped their long time star, Hanley Ramirez and some young potential to the LA Dodgers. Well, I thought that was fine, they were moving on from their past, which hasn't won, and moving towards a new future. Then the season ended as disappointing as the last and they fired first year manager Ozzie Guillen; and then hired a nobody to replace him. Now they are dumping most of the talent they brought in over the previous off-season. The Miami Marlins are going to continue to struggle to fill seats in that beautiful new stadium if they don't develpoe some consistancy. That needs to start with a whole new management team. This tteams method of find young, unknown, and un proven players to build up until they develop their skills and leave for bigger contracts else where is destroying the team. They could have won with Ozzie and could have won with ose Reyes and the others as well. But instead, they are going to fill that roster with no bodies and expect fans to pour in. It will not happen.
If I were put in charge of the Marlins today, I would try to sure up my fan base by immediatly going after big name talent to remind my fans we want to compete. Plus, I would be offering no trade clauses to several of them. Number one, I would go after Josh Hamilton, followed by Kyle Lohse. Edwin Jackson could also help the teams bull pen. BJ Upton would be another target. Hamilton and Upton would both recieve no-trade options while the rest of the roster's contracts would be reviewed and a list of who needs to be restructured and who needs to be dumped would be made. My number one drop would be Carlos Lee, his contract is too big to make the moves necessary to get this team on track. This would be my plan, but remember the Marlins management gets paid the big bucks to lead this team to another championship.
